As part of the "Global Hamlets" symposium (October 5, 1-5pm in Blount), a recent Chinese film adaptation of the play will be screened. The Banquet (aka Legend of the Black Scorpion, dir. FENG Xiaogang, China, 2006) is a striking kung-fu version, with an intriguing twist at the end. Visually pleasing, aesthetically complex, and lots to talk about.
