Dr. Alice Kaplan, John M. Musser Professor of French at Yale University, will present "Dreaming in French: The Paris Years of Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy, Susan Sontag and Angela Davis." Kaplan's lecture draws on her latest book, Dreaming in French: The Paris Years of Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy, Susan Sontag and Angela Davis. Kaplan will explore the lives of these extraordinary American women and show how their time spent living in the French capital as study-abroad students transformed them and contributed to their becoming change agents in America upon their return. In doing so, Kaplan helps us to understand a great deal about 20th-century Paris and modern America, but also how study abroad changes lives. Presented as part of Rhodes' Communities in Conversation Series and free and open to the public, the lecture begins at 7 p.m. in Blount Auditorium.
