   "Voices of Blue, Voices of Gray"-Talk by Profs. Huebner and Skoog on Civil War Texts and Music

Rhodes History Professor Dr. Timothy Huebner and Music Professor Dr. William Skoog will present a talk on texts and music of the Civil War titled “Voices of Blue, Voices of Gray” as part of Rhodes events celebrating the 150th anniversary of the American Civil War. It is free and open to the public.

With focus on the Battles of Shiloh and Gettysburg, the professors will provide an overview of how Abraham Lincoln, Union and Confederate soldiers, and enslaved African Americans all lived the experience of the war.

On April 11, Rhodes will host Dr. Randall Fuller as this year’s Phi Beta Kappa lecturer. Fuller will be discussing “Walt Whitman’s Civil War.” Then on April 14, Rhodes’ spring choral concert will feature music and texts from the Civil War era.
