   Lecture by Pulitzer Prize-winning Historian Gordon Wood: "The Making of The Constitution"

   Event Description :

Historian Gordon Wood will present "The Making of The Constitution." Free and open to the public, the lecture begins at 7 pm. in the McCallum Ballroom of the Bryan Campus Life Center on campus.

The event is in observance of Sept. 17, the day the remaining delegates to the Philadelphia Convention signed the Constitution in 1787.

Wood is the Alva O. Way Professor of History Emeritus at Brown University. He is regarded as the leading historian of the American Founding era, and his many books include Pulitzer Prize-winning The Radicalism of the American Revolution;Bancroft Prize-winning The Creation of the American Republic, 1776-1787; Revolutionary Characters: What Made the Founders Different; and most recently, The Idea of America: Reflections on the Birth of the United States.

Wood’s lecture is part of the national Constitution Day Initiative, sponsored by the Philadelphia-based, non-profit Jack Miller Center for Teaching America’s Founding Principles and History.
