Jazz pianist and composer Dave Brubeck (1920–2012), known for his improvisational skills and experimentation with time signatures, had a career spanning more than six decades. His wife Iola, who served as her husband’s business manager early in his career and wrote lyrics for some of his compositions, died March 12, 2014 at the age of 90. Darius, also a jazz pianist, played at the 2009 Kennedy Center awards ceremony honoring his father.

Darius, who has established an international reputation touring with South African musicians, formed the Darius Brubeck Quartet in 2005. The Memphis performance will feature him playing his father's "Pange Lingua Variations" and the Fauré "Requiem."

The Rhodes MasterSingers Chorale is a semi-professional choral ensemble made up of music professionals, faculty, staff, students and alumni of Rhodes College. For more information, contact the Rhodes College Department of Music at (901) 843-3775.
