First Annual Blues Bowl: Rhodes vs. University of Chicago

   Date : Saturday, 5 October 2013       From : 1:00pm   To : 6:00pm
Category : Athletics       Location : Crain Field & Wolfe Track Facility

   Event Description :

The Rhodes Lynx face the University of Chicago Maroons at Crain Field on campus. Admission to the football game is free.

Although kickoff is at 1 p.m., visitors can begin arriving at 11 a.m. for plenty of pregame fun. Tailgaters will be located around the field and alongside the tennis courts, plus barbecue and lots of other great food will be sold by local vendors. There also will be games and activities for the kids.

Then around 1 p.m., fans can pack the stands and cheer on the teams as they battle for bragging rights and a new customized guitar trophy that the victor will get to keep for a year until the next Blues Bowl. After the game, fans can head over to Rhodes’ Lynx Lair for a free blues concert by Low Society featuring vocalist Mandy Lemons and slide guitarist Sturgis Nikides. Their songs are a mixture of blues, Americana, and old school soul music.

Rhodes is a member the Southern Athletic Association, and the UChicago is a member of the University of Athletic Association. This non-conference game should provide a day of collegiate football fun.
