   George Mason University Economist Bryan Caplan to Present "The Myth of the Rational Voter"

Dr. Bryan Caplan, associate professor of economics at George Mason University, will present "The Myth of the Rational Voter: Why Democracies Choose Bad Policies." Free and open to the public, the lecture begins at 8 p.m. in Hardie Auditorium.

The Myth of the Rational Voter: Why Democracies Choose Bad Policies (Princeton University Press) is Caplan's 2007 book about voter irrationality in the political sphere. The book was named a Best Book of 2007 by the Financial Times.

Caplan is a regular contributor to the Library of Economics and Liberty's popular EconLog, and he has published in the Economic Journal, American Economic Review, Journal of Law and Economics, Social Science Quarterly, Journal of Public Economics, Southern Economic Journal, and Public Choice.

Caplan's appearance at Rhodes is made possible through a generous grant from the Charles G. Koch Charitable Foundation and by Rhodes' Departments of Economics and Business Administration and the Omicron Delta Epsilon economics honor society. Cosponsors are Rhodes' Political Science and International Studies departments.
