Historian Dr. Lynn Sacco will present "Not Talking About It: Diagnosing Incest in American History." Free and open to the public, the lecture begins at 7 p.m. in Blount Auditorium of Buckman Hall. A reception will follow. Sacco, who is an assistant professor of women's and sexuality studies at The University of Tennessee-Knoxville, recently published Unspeakable: Father-Daughter Incest in American History (Johns Hopkins University Press). For her sources, Sacco has used professional journals, medical and court records, and private and public accounts. Sacco's presentation at Rhodes will focus on attempts by the medical community to repress information about incest in middle-class white families. The talk is sponsored by Rhodes' Departments of History and Psychology; the Gender and Sexuality Studies Program; and the American Studies Program.
