The German Program at Rhodes College will host a celebration of the fall of the wall dividing East and West Berlin. Free and open to the public, the event will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. in Barret 051. The program includes: * A panel discussion with Germans from the Memphis area who were in Germany when the wall fell * A “then and now” slide show illustrating how much has changed since the wall and the inner-German border were dismantled * A presentation on the “East Side Gallery,” a section of the wall that is still standing and on which various artists have painted their vision of the wall. Audience members also will have the opportunity to create their own “wall art.” * Student displays and presentations by Rhodes classes and area high school students. For more information about the celebration, contact Professor Michelle Mattson at 901-843-3524. |
