Due to health-related reasons, Dr. Benjamin L. Hooks will not provide the keynote address for Rhodes College’s tribute to the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Tuesday, January 22. However, the program will continue with a video tribute created from oral histories in Rhodes’ Crossroads to Freedom digital archive that documents the civil rights era in Memphis. Free and open to the public, the program begins at 7 p.m. in the McCallum Ballroom. Presentations also will be made by Rhodes students as well as the winner of the Cypress Middle School essay contest and the winner of a poetry contest held jointly by Springdale and Snowden schools. |
